Individuality versus Personality Tests
Perhaps maturing amidst cookie-cutter suburban homes and standardized tests during school, I learned to
"stand out" from the crowd (like below).
My intuition and creativity served me better than
"social norms".
Thus, whenever friends try to entertain themselves by offering me Personality Tests, they realize that I don't fit into any of the pre-prescribed outcomes. For example:
You must describe yourself as
- Introvert or Extrovert
- Sensor or Intuitive
- Thinker or Feeler
- Judger or Perceiver
Then, the "test" categorizes you into probable occupations.
However, I behave differently depending on the situation: sometimes a judger is needed; other times, I let others "take charge" because teamwork is required. Depending on my mood, I can recharge as both an introvert and extrovert.
That being said, the test indicated that I'd be good as: Executive, Lawyer, Market Research Analyst, Political Consultant, Marketing Director, Business Coach/Trainer, Writer, Restauranteur, Consultant, and Mental Health Therapist.

Maybe that's why lawyers and venture capitalists regret working the American fields of those occupations, so they retire and open restaurants, organic farms, and small businesses.
Regardless, I usually don't play such games because...
