Above is what the hugely-expensive Second Avenue Subway station looks like: bland. The incorrigibly corrupt MTA trumpeted it with big hoopla. It took 100 years to finish, with untold million$ being unaccounted for. At least it has one of the few functioning elevators (for now) in the huge system. Compared to the stations in other nations, it is substandard. Other nations spend less, complete the projects faster, and make better results. See for yourself...
Even lands with historic railway fixtures, like England, keep them pristine.
Lets look at other first-world countries to see how their subways rate with New York City's. Certainly, NYC's MTA operates a bigger/older system, but it also collects a bigger horde of money and had plenty of time for upkeep. Lets see how "America Being Great" compares with its peers.
Republic of Belarus
Belgium
Compare that to NYC
Brazil
Chile
Despite Chinese communism and "everything in America being made in China" jokes, China's Metro outclass America's biggest/wealthiest subway.

(NYC Hudson Yards Terminal took 10 years to look similar)

Japan - Nagoya
South Korea
Mexico resists our President's "wall" and has a cleaner Metro
The Netherlands
Norway

The Philippines (an archipelago-nation)

Compare that type of excellence to the neglected grime in the USA, such as Baltimore...
or Chicago
or New York City in the year 2018!
Who else rides in outdated subways? The corrupt dictatorship of North Korea... our president's new buddy.
Due to too few trains and increased delays, NYC's paying passengers get crammed worse than North Korea.
For American politicians who condone the MTA, I hope it's the "end of the line" for them.
