New Islands for A Better Life

From my last blog entry, you must realize that a lot of soil was unearthed to make way for the splendid new Metro lines in Copenhagen.  When NYC excavated land to build the Twin Towers, it used it--not expand the cramped airports or add more greenways/parks--to build more unnecessary, high-cost high-rises buildings.

As evident below, the slither of grass that the overpaid developers gave high-paying tenants is not in proportion to the imposing six towers that block the sunlight.

As an extra insult to humanity, no nutritious eateries were installed.  However, since most American households are conditioned to eating crap like this, nobody will know what they're missing.

Look at what those expensive prices give buyers ($3,000 per month for the apartment below).  Despite the promised "waterside" location, it is usually a disappointing view.

In truth, Battery Park City was only built to offer some millionaire stock-brokers (from the nearby Financial District) a place to dock their pleasure-craft.

In proportion to typical NYC overdevelopment, where is the park greenery that Battery PARK City supposedly gives its gullible high-paying residents?

In stark contrast, Copenhagen unveiled plans to apply their excavated soil to creating man-made islands for new "green" waste management facilities, wind turbine farms for eco-friendly sustainable energy,

and some islands will be purely for urban recreational use.

A second project will install islands for low-rise (typical of the image-conscious city) apartment complexes.  Seen below is the impressive amount of "green space" in the new development... something New York City would never allot space for, if it didn't produce a profit.  Another sandy beach will be added to the city's landscape!  Maybe they were inspired by how the Dutch reclaim land from the sea to make polders?  Employing such tactics is smart.

New York City could do that but doesn't want to.  NYC only wants to build things that make profit, so it erects unnecessary skyscrapers and apartment buildings with overpriced rents.
Too many New Yorkers settle for this type of $2,200-per-month compacted living space / view...

NYC greedily builds higher and higher to extract more rents and higher home prices.  Yet, NYC fails to build things that actually benefit its society: better power plants or cleaner waterways.  Like many other countries, New York could build in the water to expand its dilapidated outdated airports, but it chooses not to--for the pure inconvenience of all travelers and anyone catching a flight during an inevitable backlog of delayed departures.  Those are the same reasons that keeps Manhattan NOT connected to the airport by trains.  Only a "sucker" would gullibly believe NYC's advertising and relocate there to pay for such crap.

As you can see, the world is big and full of better opportunities, making people's lives actually nicer.
