Stereotypes of Americans

When ignorant Americans stereotype other cultures, they are often so uneducated/misinformed that they are comically inaccurate.  But when people in other countries stereotype Americans, those evaluations have truth.  Sadly, when Americans see videos like these, instead of self-reflection, they merely revert to anger and denial.  That merely mimics the current American president.  Click on the link and watch the 10-minute series of interviews.  Stay patient and notice the opinions.  What do you think?

(That interviewer has videos of other nationalities doing the same thing, if you want to compare).

The American TV sitcom "Modern Family" (it won 22 Emmy Awards) made fun of how Americans still want hamburgers when they travel, instead of trying locally-made items.

Watch this video of Downton Abbey actors being asked to speak like Americans.  They sound aggressive and clueless.

As seen by this old video, America has a longstanding issue.

But if you try to confront such Americans about their bad habits, this is what happens...

What does it say about the American culture?  At the supermarket, Lewis and I heard a middle-aged white woman boast how clueless she is about the world beyond America.  Many of our male gay acquaintances are flippantly snarky... for no reason.  Many Americans tend to say "I'll call you" or "Let's get together soon" but disregard/ignore you.  This does not include everybody in the huge expanse of the USA, but enough people create such an image.  Can you turn it around?  During this "stay at home" pandemic, will you reflect on yourself and find ways to better yourself?

Remaining unaware/undeveloped creates Americans like the ones seen in this interview from the Daily Show.  Watch the whole thing to witness the many varieties of ignorance.
