Catching Glimpses of Late Summer Blooms

During this fine breezy afternoon, I brought a novel and my lightweight folding chair to the riverside park.  I savored an hour of smelling saltwater, feeling the grassy breeze, and seeing sunbeams in the trees alongside pre-autumn butterflies.  Artists busily concocted the next installment of art before wintertime.  The free public herb garden supplied me with savory sage sprigs.  Before leaving, I snapped some pictures to share.  Here they are for your enjoyment:

The park beckons visitors--leaping through its own borders to reach people outside.

Peeking in this shady area, I saw that somebody took the time to erect a miniature trellis for a small plant.  If you didn't look down, you might overlook this act of kindness.

Side-by-side, metalworking and pots of garden-fresh cabbage (for anyone to take) exist harmoniously.

These orange blooms belong to a squash plant, ready to grow some gourds.

A yellow-dotted insect admired some moss.

Harmless honeybees (introduced to the park, last year) collected pollen.

In the picture below, those leaves are pink--looking like flowers!

(Above) clover fills the underbrush, while (below) "lambs ear" grows beside a Japanese dogwood.

Whimsically placed at the foot of some sunflowers and daisies as a tiny sculpture: a bicycle made out of clay!

A blue spruce looked stately in topiary form--like a lollipop.

Peeking through the shady greenery, some begonias brighten this nook along the interior stone wall.

Find the time to enjoy Nature's bounty... because the yellow fallen leaf (below) signifies Autumn's approach.
