I love browsing through a store that features healthy foods. It's a joy to come across a great product. It' refreshing to see ingredients with easy-to-pronounce items!
If manufacturers/processors use growth hormones or "protective chemicals" on their fruits/veggies, then it should be included on the List of Ingredients. If those items "come through" into the finished product (like ADT chemicals/insecticides), then they're part of the item being consumed, and they should be listed.
My discovery was Chia Chips, made by a company that is cleverly called Lesser Evil. If you're familiar with "FrankenWheat", it explains why folks feel compelled to overstuff themselves, once they begin eating snacks that are made with American wheat flour. A certain brand promotes "Once you pop, you can't stop!" (similar to what Coca Cola proclaimed--back when they included cocaine as an ingredient).
But these chips are AMAZING: tasty, creative, non-addictve, and good for you. I'll reveal the back label, "Why do snacks need to be fried to make them taste good? Why do they have to be potato? We have created a blend of good-for-you ingredients that pack the crunch and flavor you crave, while adding fiber, protein, omega 3's, and antioxidants to curb your growing hunger."
They are also "Empty Calorie"-free!
They are not overloaded with artificial flavorings or sweeteners.
A coworker once gave my a compliment, saying that she took my advice about eating naturally-sweet foods like fruit and avoided putting bleached sugar in her diet. After her palate adjusted back to its normalcy, she could ONCE AGAIN taste the true sweetness of a peach or nectarine--or even the tang of arugula. And she loved it!
Another thing to consider when buying foods is if they're grown via organic methods.
Food for Thought!
