Lost Our Vote

A long time ago, an unsophisticated governor's wife in "backwater" Arkansas desired to sit in the White House.

When her husband snagged the election (during America's highest count of Voter Apathy), she got in.  While he slurred, boinked, drank, bamboozled, and double-talked through his presidency, she acted as the "strings behind the puppet": an éminence grise.  As a national "first", the First Lady refused to leave the spotlight, after her husband left office.  She chose one of the most historically-corrupt states, New York, and became its Senator.  Astonishingly, she did not start as Assemblywoman, Councilwoman, Congresswoman, or Governor.  Right to the top, she snagged a senatorial seat--without credentials, state residency, or knowledge of the state's inner workings.  Then, she catapulted herself to becoming Secretary of State.  Not Secretary of Interior or Agriculture.  Of all the Secretary or Cabinet jobs, that is the most publicized and central.  (An overseas video captured her uncontrolled outburst when a foreign audience was more interested in talking about her husband, instead of her).  Then, she strove to become the first--and I certainly admit "overdue"--female president of the United States of America.

[On that topic, many nations had female heads of state: China, Israel, Tannu Tuva, Mongolia, Argentina, Bolivia, Iceland, San Marino, Malta, Portugal, the Philippines, Haiti, Norway, Nicaragua, Ireland, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Burundi, Sri Lanka, Liberia, Ecuador, Switzerland, Latvia, Panama, Bangladesh, France, Finland, Indonesia, Serbia, Georgia, Poland, Chile, India, Turkey, South Africa, Rwanda, Guyana, Canada, Peru, Lithuania, Costa Rica, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Austria, Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Senegal, Kyrgyzstan, Brazil, Kosovo, Croatia, Nepal, Taiwan, Denmark, Jamaica, Greece, Singapore, Romania, Barbados, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Belgium, and Estonia.  Despite its hypocritical slogan as a "Land of Opportunity", the U.S.A. remains staunchly without women].

My concern is that someone who has been hell-bent on that job for so long might "sell her soul" to get it.  There's probably an underlying motive, NOT the betterment of society or the welfare of the citizenry.  Even Obabma can't claim to have done so, thanks to his nearly-immediate bailout of historically-corrupt financial and manufacturing firms--at the double-whammy "cost" to taxpayers--some who were already their victims... while so few of the responsible ones were ever punished.  (Wells Fargo Bank is still criticized for its continued financial bonuses to its corrupt administrators... similar to this year's film "The Infiltrator").
It was also odd that while the Republicans had several presidential candidates, the Democrats only had two... and they pushed out the other one, whose public support really challenged hers.  That made it an "all or nothing" situation for the Democrats to win... which worsened their chances.

How to get "the people" to vote for something they've never chosen before?  Create a distraction.  It's similar to the song "You've Got Trouble" from "Music Man".  Remove the choices.  Create an alternative that is so disgusting that it will force people to pick the one that you want.  Companies make unattractive high & low-end alternatives to steer consumers to their middle product.  Years ago, Ross Perot was a "third candidate" designed to divide the opposing vote, to allow the other Political Party to win.

Where did they find such an presidentially-unattractive "election opponent" to go against her?  I see him in these photographs with her.

Lewis is my witness that as soon as I saw The Donald's name on the campaign, I remarked that he would be significant in the election--more than any other candidate.  It's just like you can immediately predict that the prettiest actors in a TV series or movie will be the main stars.  You can also predict that the snarkiest villain/agitator will linger throughout the entire series.  Similarly, I knew he'd be one of the finalists in America's "trumped up" election.  How else could such an unqualified man be chosen--from ALL available Americans--as a presidential candidate finalist of one of the most powerful nations on Earth?

His track-record is disgustingly astounding:

-Trump underperformed the stock market.
-Worth $100 million in 1978 (thanks to his father), had he simply put his money in a mutual fund, he'd be way richer today than he is.  But, incompetence doesn't grow money.
-Six of his hotels filed for bankruptcy.
-Trump Mortgage failed in 18 months.
-Trump Airlines defaulted on a $245 million loan and surrendered ownership.
-Trump" The Game was discontinued after sales were 60% less than expected.
-Trump Steaks failed and were pulled from shelves after 2 months.
-Trump Vodka stopped production after it failed to meet distribution requirements.
-Trump Magazine stopped publication in its second year.
-Trump Travel website shut down within a year.
-Tour de Trump was a bike race that Donald is quoted as saying would challenge the Tour de France.  It failed wand was renamed after 2 years.
-The New Jersey Generals football league collapsed after taking Trump's business advice.
-Trump Network was a multi-level marketing project that closed down in 2 years.
-Trump Ice is bottled water that failed and is only available at Trump properties.
-He refuses to release his tax returns, and our gov't allows that of a presidential candidate!
-He doesn't answer questions: only circumlocution and evasion.
-He says the most outlandish things, like a man bent on joyriding the election, pushing hard to alienate people.
Of course, such a "class clown" creates enough distraction from the fact that his opponent doesn't answer her questions either.  Television's SNL has made fun of this.
Yet, the GOP selected/endorsed/promoted/backed him... of all the millions of intelligent alternatives.

Behind the scenes, the opposing candidates didn't dislike each other as much as they acted like it.

That's how Colonial-era statesmen debated: after heated debates "on the floor", they hugged and shared ale together at the pub.  Look below: do her eyes look like she hates the man (like she claims to)?

Look at him.  What you see is an opportunist who loves to splash his name upon anything--including an election.  Getting attention (most of his schemes are media-hungry) is what drives him.  Hence his ownership of "Miss Universe" beauty pageant and NBC's "The Apprentice" celebrity-guest TV show.  Such a guy is a perfect "candidate" to create a phony election.  In any event, he became the official Republican presidential candidate... and struggled to maintain supporters/campaign managers--except for those politicians with the most questionable histories (like New Jersey's governor).

Then, something unexpected happened.  The Republican party won the presidential election--something that newscasters around the world found astonishing!  Perhaps, the "powers that be" in America (and the world) decided that--instead of working with HER--they could get better deals with an opportunist like HIM.  Powerful entities noticed that Trump was able to gain support from the unwise, the scared, the uneducated, and the uninformed American masses.  Perhaps it all backfired against Clinton.  Some say that the Democratic party's failure to "fix things" in America caused voters to withhold their support.
One senior reporter complained that if "millennial" voters had voted, it would've changed the election.  Yet, an underperforming political party can't insist that voters keep supporting it.  That's like General Motors continuing to make sub-standard cars and claiming that consumers should keep wasting money on them... so that things will improve!  The other flaw with that argument is that if there are NO qualified candidates, what is the purpose of voting?  If all of the upstanding candidates are barred from the election (due to a corruptly broken system), why would anyone vote?

In my opinion, the American people were robbed of an election.  They were deprived of a choice.  Who was there to vote for?  Did you like your only 2 choices?  Did you really pick them, in the first place?  Also, the Popular Vote was undermined by the Electoral College Vote, which is an archaic American system created to help slave owners outvote their slaves.  It's sad that it's still here, in America: "Land of the Free".

Above all, any force powerful enough to create that "staging" between Him & Her has a powerful ulterior motive.  Just like the 1976 film "The Network".
That's no surprise in America.  McKinley was a president "bought" by industrial backers, at the turn-of-the-century, to give them profitable advantages and protection against government intervention.  After his sudden killing, Vice President Teddy Roosevelt took over.  After a minor "symbolic" intervention in JP Morgan's business empire, he left the biggest industrialists alone (only harming their smaller competitors) and spent lots of time in the wilderness, creating America's National Parks, digging the Panama Canal, and goofing off on a phony Spanish/American War (trumped up by the devious media tycoon, Mr. Hearst).
President Bush Jr.'s disputed/unclear election was pushed through via his brother's (the governor of Florida) state's vote tally.  What did that imbecile do?  He condoned the removal of laws that protected citizens from financial abuses by banks and financial groups.  He also allowed them to include their "future profit projections" into their financial statements, which had previously been illegal.  The result?  A realm of corruption/thievery: Bernie Madoff, Enron, exploding corporate tax loopholes, Housing Market collapse, and banks like Wells Fargo ballooned in untoward ways.  Meanwhile, our tax-paid surveillance agencies (all 26 of them) sat idle, without many convictions/arrests.

You can't imagine what these presidential finalists promised, to occupy the presidential chair in the Oval Office.

It's a strong indication that some very powerful entities have manipulated both political parties to push support like a chess game.  When GOP Republicans defy inanity and endorse "The Donald", they show us that they're merely "brown-nosing" those powers by "toting the party line"--at all costs.  They don't care how they appear to the general public.

Meanwhile, it shows how broken America's education and political systems are.  It shows it to the world.  It's an invitation for more opportunists.  But it's a invitation for Lewis and I to leave.
