Beginning with breakfast al fresco at The Shady Lady was the prefect start to our Sunday! Fried chicken and homemade waffles, with a Bloody Mary cocktail.
The snap of Autumn was in the air, and thus, the local kitty--that Lewis enjoys petting--stayed indoors.
The leaves might've been green, but folks wore sweaters against the cool breeze. Still, it allowed outdoor seating at Madame Sou Sou coffeeshop.
Lewis preferred to perch indoors, with a frothy cappuccino (named for the Capuchin friars of the 1500s who lived in the Kingdom of Sicily).
Reaching the local park, early-fallen leaves were scattered and strewn along the lawn. Kids admired them.
The "coffee guy in the tent" was their--as is his weekend schedule--dutifully grinding fresh caffeine. Seasonally appropriate, Drew had begun serving Cider Doughnuts!
Taking advantage of the last remaining "summer weather", a final session of Art Classes (free to the public) was held.
The last collection of Public Artwork was being installed, too.
I wasn't thrilled with the noise, as I tried to savor my latest book, The Alice Network. But, the muscled ditch-digger made up for it, and I did appreciate the bustle of a successful park program.
Some park-goers rode in on bikes and abandoned their straw hats, as they perused the Farmers Green Market (weekends, from May-November).
Lewis and I admired the new ferry slip nearby.
The days are getting shorter, and summer will close soon.
However, the bounty of Autumn's harvest season shall compensate for it. Meanwhile, if the only dismay was from one olive tearing on my martini pick, then it was a GREAT day! We were thankful.
